A DIY Home Tour

Hi ya'll!

Today, I'm having you over to give you a tour of our current apartment. When we first moved here in December, I was all for decorating everything, but after we bought our home, I stopped dumping money into our rental, and have been itching to begin on our own home! So excited!

As you will see below, we make all of our decor. I enjoy it because it's our own, and it's fun working on DIY projects-even when you completely screw it up more often than not :)

Living room:

We made the chevron canvases, and then found lamps that matched them exactly!

 DIY Wedding Coasters
DIY frame of the rose Kyle proposed with

Dining Room:

I've always hated this table, so it made it better to upholster the stools..still can't wait to say bye to it.

Painted EAT letters

My corner:
One of my favorite DIY's and most practical

Well, this is probably the most practical:
Our floating bed Kyle built.

DIY Headboard. We also made a bedskirt with the same fabric to cover the box spring.

Stripes in our bedroom

My favorite spot in our place. I call it my encouragement wall. I slowly gathered every print and bought the frames at IKEA.

Guest Bedroom:

The only good thing about the bathroom:

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. Hebrews 11:1
I'm loving this bow tie pasta salad. I've had a box of bow tie pasta stored away waiting for the perfect recipe. This looks refresh and good, hope it turns out that way! It's cherry tomatoes, olive oil, olives, spinach and mozzarella cheese.

I am loving her bangs. Thinking about getting mine cut again.

Love neon nails!

I m so doing this!! Spray painting my hangers. What a fun touch to your closet.

Oh my goodness am I adoring something...
For those who don't know, Maroon 5 has been my favorite band since high school, and yesterday their new album, Overexposed, was released. It is SO great. It's way more poppy than typical Maroon 5, but nevertheless amazing and you should get it!!

Yesterday at lunch I asked Kyle what the most romantic thing he could think of to do was and he answered, "shopping." He is really a man after my own heart.

And of course, because being romantic is so important to me, I took him up on that and headed to the mall where I found my new love and obsession:

Hold breath...

 Look at the elephant!
You don't have to since this is the 3rd photo of the same thing. Bear with me. (I had to look up bare/bear and found: bare with me is an invitation to undress, bear with me is asking for patience. Please, the latter)

And I bought this pretty color blocked blouse

And one more piece of arm candy..

Every time I walk in a store, I run, not walk straight to the accessory section.

And lastly, I'm going to try this: Print a photo on a book page.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

What I Wore- The Weekend

Hope you guys had a fun & relaxing weekend!
We did around here, although it was rainy.
The highlight of my weekend has to be that I ate Peruvian food for the first time.
It was amazzzzing. Literally, best food I'v ever had.
They do a lot of seafood, with a base of cilantro and lime. For an entree I had a seafood risotto (best way I can describe it) and it was incredible. And for an appetizer I had one of their famous ceviches. My word. See how I can go on about food when this is an outfit post?

What I wore:

Floral for Summer
Dress: F21/ Shoes: Frockcandy here

Neon Accents
Pants: Bullhead at Pacsun/ Shirt: local shop/Shoes: Aldo-neon line

Boyfriend Jean

Blazer: Zara/ Shirt: F21/ Boyfriend jeans: American Eagle/ Shoes: Jessica Simpson

Hope you enjoyed that! A few of you reached out to me suggesting I do more of these posts, so let me know what you think!

Today & tomorrow Kyle is off work, so I'm looking forward to spending some time with him! I hope to do a little bit of shopping and maybe some Peruvian dining again ;)

Be Blessed

Thankfulness- A Challenge

Over the past couple of weeks, the concept of thankfulness has been knocking on my front door. It began one night, when I was just not feeling happy. I prayed something like this, "I have nothing to be sad about, why do I feel down Lord?" and so clearly, I received my answer. "Because you're not thankful enough for all you have."

I pondered on this, and came to the conclusion that the root of complaining, sadness and bitterness is  lack of gratitude. That night I resolved to challenge myself to become grateful and verbally express that gratitude, even in the smallest things. Ever since, I feel like my life has been defined and miraculous.

The next day, while reading my bible, I came across Psalm 50 in my daily plan, and it confirmed that God was trying to teach me something:

Psalm 50: 7-15

"O my people, listen as I speak,
Here are my charges against you, O Israel:
I am God, your God! I have no complaint about your sacrifices.
But I do not need bulls from your barns or the goats from your pens.
If I were hungry, I would not tell you,
for all the world is mine and everything in it.
Make thankfulness your sacrifice to God,
and keep the vows you made to the Most High.
Then call on me when you are in trouble and I will rescue you.
But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me.

Since this revelation dawned on me, I am making a conscious effort to take nothing for granted. While doing this, I have learned that God will only give you more when you are thankful for what you have now. Verse 15 above says, and I paraphrase, make thankfulness your sacrifice to God, and then you can call on him when you are in trouble.

Two things from that:
  • Thankfulness is a sacrifice.
  • You will not receive help from God until you become thankful.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Once again, first comes thanksgiving, then come the blessings.

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstancesfor this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 2 Thes. 5:16

So today, I challenge you to take on an attitude of gratitude. To see the good in everything, and as you do, I promise you will be a happier person for it.

“You simply will not be the same person two months from now after consciously giving thanks each day for the abundance that exists in your life. And you will have set in motion an ancient spiritual law: the more you have and are grateful for, the more will be given you.” — Sarah Ban Breathnach

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” — Albert Einstein

“Give thanks for a little and you will find a lot.” — The Hausa of Nigeria

“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.” — William Arthur Ward
Happy Friday!!

Hi ya'll, hope your week has been going smoothly thus far, and if not, then I hope it turns around and you have lots to smile about!

This week I am loving:

This little love Amanda from For Love of a Cupcake sent me, just to make my day! And it made my week! It's an elephant, and ya'll know I adore elephants, and it's mint. How much better can arm candy get? Visit her shop chloevstank at etsy for more of this amazing stuff!

I love this outfit.

I am recreating it from my closet like this:

This is so cute! I want it but I'm too scared it'll hurt!

I should not be amused by this. Cannibalism is NOT cool, but this is so funny. I can't pass up a good laugh..

I love this! I think people with an always positive, always believing attitude attract wonderful things to themselves.

Making yogurt chips! How fun is this to use with fruit salads, or as a snack.
This Tory Burch beauty is hollering my name.

Monogrammed kick this week:

I'm ordering this for our house!

And this curtain..and now I'll stop. I think the whole monogrammed craze has got to be a southern thing.

I love this closet space! In our home thats being built right now, we are using a bedroom as my closet, and I'm getting ideas on how to design it :) Nothing can make a girl happier..

And this lovely blouse I have my eye on for only $23 here

Be blessed this Wednesday!
