Home

These pictures are from my trip home to Memphis. I feel it so perfectly captures life at home for me. To be more raw than usual, these pictures tug at my heart a little. I miss home. Some days deeply, and some days it's just a thought; but nevertheless, the thought is ever present. I miss the laid back culture, my parents land, the seasons, but mainly my parents and friends. Being away from home is often so lonely. I love Miami, and we have been blessed with wonderful friends here, but the feeling of loneliness sometimes is inexplicable because I'm not literally lonely, I just feel I belong at home. Where I can drive to my mom's for a hug and to my dad for advice. I can count on life long friends, and an overall feeling of belonging and knowing everything there is to know about the town. But living away from home has it perks too. I love being in a big city and experiencing the beauty of it. "You can never go home again, but the truth is you can never leave home, so it's all right."  ~Maya Angelou

  2. Dorothy said it best...."There's no place like home." This is why I'll always reside in Oklahoma City, close to my family. Your last picture is so meaningful. :) I should also note that I like your outfit in the About Me picture.

I found you through the Aloha Friday Blog Hop and am following you now. Have a blessed New Year!

    Warmly,

  5. I totally know how this feels. I'm in a constant struggle between living in California with my love or being at home in Canada where everythign is comfortable and 21 years of friends and memories constantly surround me. Life is confusing!

  8. I hear you girl. I stumbled on a quote one time that said "home is where your mom is". ;) And that is so true. Glad you got to spend a little time at "home".

  11. I love that quote from Maya Angelou. I've always felt like I struggle to know where I should be. I'm back home now and every day see the reasons I'm here, but then in the back of my mind, I miss New York and my life there. Someday we'll all be rich and we can live where we want but then just fly home whenever we want! :)

  19. Aww love the outfit and even thou I live 25 min away from my hometown, I know what you mean...it's not the same being in the same city (or in your case state) as your parents and "home". Glad you had a nice visit!!

  20. I love your outfit definitely! I know exactly how it feels like missing home. See, I am from the Philippines and I came here to the USA six years ago. No other family and friends, but my kids and my husband. Even for six years of living in the States I still miss home badly especially around the holidays or Christmas. I am missing home so much and I want to go back and visit my family and friends, but it is sure not that easy. It helps a little bit I get to talk to them over the internet. Thank you to technology for that. :) Anyway, I found your blog via blog hop and I am your new follower. :)

  21. You captured that sense of "loneliness" or longing for home perfectly! I recently moved out on my own three hours away for my first teaching job back in August and I haven't been able to put the feeling completely into words--about not literally being lonely (though at times I am!), but instead feeling like I should be at home. Thank you for this :)

    And cute outfit!
